LGW Gatwick Airport is an easy commute from the city centre using any number of public transport options. London is a city steeped in history and, at the same time, at the leading edge of the age of technology. If you are on a layover in London there are no end of activities to lure you away from the departure lounge.



London Tours


A number of tour companies offer layover tours especially designed to show tourists the very best in sights and sounds of London. These tours take in all the famous attractions including Buckingham palace, Tower of London and Westminster Abby. For someone new to London this type of tour would make the most of the time you have by cutting out all that extra time figuring out which tube station you are at.



Madame Tussauds


To experience England over the centuries with a scarily realistic twist, there is no better tour than one around Madame Tussauds. This waxwork museum offers exhibits including superheroes, sports stars, royalty and the rich and famous. If you are lucky you will be at the museum on the same day as your favourite star; good luck guessing which one is the real one.



London Eye


If you are in London on a clear day the best place to see all the sites from is the London Eye. There are a number of different ticketing options to choose from depending on when you will be in London, so it is worth checking up before you go. If you have the time, you can also combine your London Eye ride with a river cruise with live commentary about the history that is hugely evident along the Thames.



Covent Garden


If shopping, eating and entertainment are on your agenda while in London, head over to Covent Garden for a bit of each. With typical street cafes at which to quench your thirst, all sorts of movement, visual and music artists to watch, a market selling everything under the sun and an atmosphere and vibe that will wash away those cold weather blues, Covent Garden is an experience not to be missed on a layover in London.



As always, make sure you leave plenty of time to get back to LGW Gatwick Airport in time for your connecting flight. Enjoy your transit city rather than whiling away the time leaning up against your luggage in the departures lounge.
