Why not have a look at some of the attractions within striking distance of the LAS Airport that will give you a last taste of Vegas but not make you miss your flight.
This amazing private collection of over 150 pinball machines is a must do if you have a few hours to kill at Las Vegas McCarran International Airport. Catch a cab for the two and a half mile trip and maximise your game time before your next flight. Entrance is free and the pinball machines take between 25c and 75c per game.
If you have a good few hours to spare, and you’re looking for some adventure, why not treat yourself to a three and a half hour helicopter flight over the Grand Canyon. These tours, run by different tour operators, cost around USD 280 per adult and are worth it for the stunning scenery, the priceless pictures you'll get of the Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam and Lake Mead as well as aerial views of the Strip as you land and take off. Make sure you have enough time to make the three mile return trip back to the airport to catch your connecting flight out.
Less than two and a half miles from the airport, this Museum houses Liberace’s cars, pianos and other entertainment memorabilia and is well worth a visit. On January 27, 1951 the first nuclear test was carried out at the Nevada Test Site in the desert north of Nevada. The Atomic Testing Museum, which opened in 2005, documents the history of nuclear testing from 1951 to present date. For anyone interested in the science and history of this amazing technology, the museum is less than 3 miles from the airport and would make a fascinating break from the tediousness of waiting for flights.
Other interesting attractions within striking distance of the airport include M & M’s World for delicious chocolate delights, the Lion Habitat, which is great if you are looking for ways to keep children entertained and, if you have plenty of time and can afford a 10 mile round trip, then the Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay would be a great place to while away your stop over.
