Venice Driving Stress Level: 5/10

While water taxis and water-based transport in general is the most popular way to travel around the city, cars can be useful for some areas, especially around the mainland, which is connected by the A4 autostrada.

Parking can be a problem and many people driving into Venice choose to park their rental cars at one of the city's main car parks, which include the parking lot at the Piazzale Roma and Tronchetto, now one of the biggest car parks in the whole of Europe. Although prices do vary between car parks, most are fairly expensive. A more economical option is the outdoor San Giuliano car park on the mainland, in the Mestre area.
