Groove at the airport's dance club

Dance your layover away at the world's first airport dance club! Located near gates 7 and 8 in the airside zone of Ibiza Airport, the ‘F* Me I’m Famous Lounge Club by Cathy & David Guetta’ the provides a view of aircraft taking off and landing (David Guetta is a Grammy award-winning artist/producer/DJ). Expect different ‘ambiences’ during the day, from ambient chill-out music, to funk, to electro-house.

Explore Ibiza Town

There's lots to see right in and around Ibiza Town. Whether it's walking the old town's ramparts, exploring artifacts (check out the Museo de Puig des Molins), the Hippie Market (held on Wednesdays), peoplewatching in the port, shopping the many stalls - or whatever strikes your fancy - explore at your own pace. Don't forget to take time out for a drink when you stumble across a special spot.

Sa Caleta Beach

One of the loveliest beaches on Ibiza is Sa Caleta (also called Es Bol Nou). In a setting backed by red cliffs, the beach is sandy, and the shallow water is ideal for families and younger children. Sa Caleta boasts a beach restaurant. As this beach is very popular with the locals at the weekend, it can get very full. Take the number 26 bus (10 minute walk to beach), rent a scooter or car (limited parking on rough ground), or take a tour.

Explore Ibiza Island

Ibiza Island, which covers 572 km2, is a whole world in miniature and stretches from the coast inland. Leave the crowds behind to explore the villages, landscapes, natural beauty, and views. Few tourists get off the beaten track, so this is great opportunity to escape the crowds and explore the history of this wonderful island. Rent a car or scooter, or take a tour.

UNESCO World Heritage Sites

Large portions of Ibiza Island are registered as UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and thus protected from the development and commercialization of the main cities. A notable example includes "God's Finger" in the Benirràs Bay as well as some of the more traditional Ibizan cultural sites such as the remains of the first Phoenicians settlement at Sa Caleta. Because of its rustic beauty, companies and artists alike frequently use the island for photographic and film shoots. A monument ("The Egg") erected in honour of Christopher Columbus can be found in Sant Antoni; Ibiza is one of several places purporting to be his birthplace. Pick one or two to visit, then arrange transport by car, scooter or on a tour.

Take a Ferry to Formentera

The boat from Ibiza (Eivissa) to Formentera takes around half an hour, and leaves every half hour in the summer. The boat trip costs between 17 and 24 euros per person for a single trip. You can buy the ticket on the boat, and you do not need to reserve, but if you want to take a car it is best to reserve during the high season. The island is flat and sandy with magnificent, unspoilt beaches. There are a few places where the land rises to present spectacular cliffs to the sea. It is perfect for cycling, walking, snorkelling and sailing. However, it has very few cultural or historical attractions such as museums, castles, churches or art galleries. Its cultural attractions include some megalithic sites, a roman road, some watch-towers (18th century), the 18th century chapel of Sant Francesc Xavier and a small Ethnological museum.

As always, make sure you leave plenty of time to get back to the Ibiza Airport in time for your connection and enjoy your layover city rather than whiling away the time leaning up against your luggage in the departures lounge.
