Things To Do in Roseau & Roseau Airport Layover Ideas

The Champagne area is situated south of Roseau and is quite nice. The name comes from mild underwater geothermal activity: gas bubbles that float to the surface, resulting in a wonderful tickling sensation on the body. Plan to spend about 1-3 hours at Champagne. You can get there by taxi, bus or private car and you will need to walk down from the road to the water. Free.

Dominica's botanical garden sits just east of downtown and is a great spot to spend an hour or two wandering the landscaped green fields. There is a pleasant hike from the garden up the hill to the east, offering a wonderful view of Roseau and the Caribbean Sea. The hike itself is of easy-to-moderate difficulty and will take a novice hiker about 45 minutes, one-way. Along the way, you can explore native Caribbean plants, many of which are common house plants outside of the tropics. A small shrine is located at the top of the hill, near a lookout.
