Berlin Tegel Airport (IATA: TXL, ICAO: EDDT), also referred to as Berlin Tegel International Airport, or simply Tegel Airport, is Berlin's inner-city airport and the main international airport for the German capital city. It lies in Tegel, a section of the northern borough of Reinickendorf. Berlin Tegel Airport is notable for its hexagonal terminal building around an open square, which makes for walking distances as short as 30 metres from the aircraft to the terminal exit.

Berlin Tegel Airport is currently one of two airports serving Berlin; the other is Berlin Schoenfeld Airport (SXF).

In 2016, Berlin Tegel Airport served 21,253,959 passengers, making it the 4th busiest airport in Germany, and Berlin's busiest.

Other airlines that fly to Berlin Tegel Airport include Aegean Airlines, Aer Lingus, airBaltic, Air Canada, Air France, Alitalia, Austrian Airlines, Azerbaijan Airlines, British Airways, Croatia Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Finnair, Flybe,, KLM, Lufthansa, Luxair, Qatar Airways, Royal Jordanian, Scandinavian Airlines, SunExpress, Swiss International Air Lines, TAP Portugal, Turkish Airlines, United Airlines and Vueling.

NOTE: Berlin Tegel Airport is scheduled to close in 2018/2019, approximately six months after the completion of the much delayed new Berlin-Brandenburg International Airport (BER). This new airport is slated to handle all commercial flights to and from Berlin, and will encompass the existing smaller, but better located, Schoenfeld airport.

Update: Berliners are petitioning to keep Tegel Airport open after the new BER airport opens.

Important: the opening of the new Berlin Brandenberg BER Airport has been postponed to 2018, at the earliest. The city's other two airports, Schoenefeld SXF and Templehof THF will continue to operate until that time, at the earliest.
