It lies in Tegel, a section of the northern borough of Reinickendorf. NOTE: Berlin Tegel Airport is scheduled to close in 2018/2019, approximately six months after the completion of the much delayed new Berlin-Brandenburg International Airport (BER). This new airport is slated to handle all commercial flights to and from Berlin, and will encompass the existing smaller, but better located, Schoenfeld airport.
Update: Berliners are petitioning to keep Tegel Airport open after the new BER airport opens.
