Yangon International Airport

Where is Yangon Airport?

Myanmar, formerly Burma, in Southeast Asia, lies on the Bay of Bengal and Andaman Sea coast with Bangladesh and India to the west, China to the north, and Laos and Thailand to the east.

With 5 million people, Yangon (formerly Rangoon) is the largest city in Myanmar, and a major economic centre. The city is an interesting amalgamation of Burmese, British, Chinese and Indian influences, with much decaying colonial architecture.

Yangon International Airport (IATA: RGN, ICAO: VYYY), also referred to as Yangon Mingaladon Airport, Rangoon Airport, is located in Mingaladon, 15 kilometres (9.3 miles) north of downtown Yangon, Myanmar.

Soon to be the busiest Burma airport, RGN is nearing the completion of major expansion, Yangon Airport will have the capacity to service 6 million passengers a year.

Yangon Airport is one of Myanmar's 3 international airports, along with Mandalay International Airport (MDL) and Naypyitaw International Airport (NYT). There are 2 more under development: Dawei International Airport (TVY) and Hanthawaddy International Airport.

Yangon Airport is a hub for Air Bagan, Air KBZ, Air Mandalay, Asian Wings Airways, Golden Myanmar Airlines, Myanmar Airways and Yangon Airways. Other airlines that fly to Yangon Airport include Air China, Air India, All Nippon Airways, Asiana Airlines, Bangkok Airways, China Airlines, Dragonair, Korean Air, Nok Air, SilkAir, Tigerair, Thai AirAsia and Vietnam Airlines.

Cities with flights to Yangon Airport include Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Chengdu, Dhaka, Doha, Frankfurt, Gaya, Guangzhou, Ho Chi Minh City, Hong Kong, Kolkata, Kuala Lumpur, Kunming, Mandalay, Nagasaki, Osaka, Phnom Penh, Phuket, Siem Reap, Seoul, Singapore, Taipei and Tokyo.
